After visiting the dermatologist on March 4 I got a letter today saying that the lesion she removed was determined to be Squamous Cell Carcinoma, the second most common skin cancer. It is widely thought to be caused by undue sun exposure (paying for all those church softball years).
The dermatologist, Dr. Barbara Reed, basically said in the letter to wear #15 lotion, 'take an aspirin and see me in six months!' [In other words she's done her job and in most cases that's the end of it.] It does recur and so just keep an eye on the skin.
